Edulution is a Southern African blended-learning non-profit working to strengthen foundational numeracy and literacy in public education. Founded in Zambia in 2015 and now operating in Zambia and South Africa, we help under-resourced learners catch up, keep up and develop the skills they need to thrive.

Our model combines personalised adaptive technology, skilled human facilitation and real-time data. Learners use Ei Mindspark, a curriculum-aligned platform that assesses each child’s understanding and creates an individual learning pathway. This allows learners to work at the level they have reached, master concepts at their own pace and progressively close learning gaps. The platform can operate offline and in solar-powered environments, enabling effective delivery in rural and low-resource schools where connectivity and reliable electricity cannot be assumed.

Technology alone is not enough. Edulution recruits and develops local young people as Learning Assistants, creating employment while providing learners and teachers with consistent classroom support. We increasingly position teachers as custodians of the programme, equipping them to interpret learner data, provide targeted support and integrate blended learning into everyday teaching. In this way, the model strengthens both learner outcomes and the capacity of the public education system.

Data is central to our approach. Individual learner activity and progress are tracked continuously, giving teachers, Learning Assistants and programme teams actionable insights while providing partners with transparent evidence of participation and impact. Independent evaluations in South Africa and Zambia have demonstrated meaningful improvements in mathematics performance, including learners outperforming comparison groups and recovering significant lost learning.

Edulution has reached over 100,000 learners since inception. We currently deliver programmes through public schools and community-based learning centres in Mpumalanga and Gauteng in South Africa, and Zambia. Our work is implemented in collaboration with education authorities, schools, communities, funders and specialist partners, including Penreach in South Africa.

Our ambition extends beyond delivering a successful programme. We are working with governments and implementation partners to embed teacher-centred blended learning within public education, creating a model that is effective, affordable and capable of sustainable adoption at scale. By combining educational technology with human development and public-sector ownership, Edulution is helping build stronger education systems and more hopeful futures for young people.

As of January 2027, Edulution had 98 centres (38 in Zambia, 60 in South Africa) serving over 55,000 active learners a month and employing 240 coaches and support staff.
