Kelello Collectives

Kelello Collectives is investing in bilingual early-grade mathematics materials aimed at learners. By providing bilingual materials, we assist teachers, who have been trained in English, to start thinking and talking about mathematics in African languages, and to contribute towards more consistent African language registers for mathematics. Thus far, we have materials in Sesotho-English, Sepedi-English, isiXhosa-English, and isiZulu-English. These materials are created in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Institute (NMI) and support the national policy of mother tongue-based bilingual education (MTbBE).
