This pilot survey, conducted by Este Buchholz of Let Us Thrive, gathered salary data from 28 NASCEE member organisations across five job families:
✔ Executive Leadership
✔ Programmes
✔ Finance
✔ Communications
✔ Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, Monitoring & Learning (MERL)
Here are five insights from the data:
📌 CEO salaries vary more than many expect. Organisational size, complexity and mandate have a significant impact on executive remuneration.
📌 Programme Manager is not a one-size-fits-all role. Similar titles often represent very different levels of responsibility, resulting in distinct salary ranges.
📌 Investment in M&E remains consistent across organisations of different sizes. Donor expectations continue to shape investment in monitoring and evaluation capacity.
📌 Dedicated CFO roles remain uncommon. For many organisations, the Finance Manager is the senior finance benchmark.
📌 Bigger budgets don't always mean higher salaries. The findings show that organisational priorities often have a greater influence on remuneration than budget size alone.
This is the first edition of what NASCEE intends to become an annual salary benchmarking initiative, providing education organisations with evidence-based insights to support recruitment, retention and remuneration decisions.
