National Literacy Promotion Toolkit Launch

NASCEE is proud to support the launch of the National Literacy Promotion Toolkit, an initiative led by the Department of Basic Education under the Read to Lead Campaign.   • NASCEE is proud to support the launch of the National Literacy Promotion Toolkit, an initiative led by the Department of Basic Education under the Read to Lead Campaign. The Toolkit introduces a collaborative approach to strengthening literacy through District Reading Collectives, bringing together government, civil society, schools, libraries and communities to build a stronger reading culture across South Africa.

Building a nation of readers requires more than great literacy programmes - it requires strong partnerships.

 

NASCEE is proud to be supporting the launch of the National Literacy Promotion Toolkit, an important initiative led by the Department of Basic Education (DBE) under the Read to Lead campaign. The Toolkit provides a shared framework for strengthening collaboration around literacy promotion at a district level, recognising that reading is developed not only in schools, but also in homes, libraries, communities and through the collective efforts of civil society.

 

As South Africa's network for education collaboration, NASCEE's role in this initiative is to help bring organisations together, strengthen District Reading Collectives, and enable meaningful partnerships between civil society, districts and other literacy stakeholders. Through NED Connect, organisations will be able to:

 

  • Find and connect with other literacy partners working in their districts
  • Become part of District Reading Collectives
  • Strengthen coordination to maximise collective impact
